Philosophy

Our family home agency believes children learn best through play. By providing quality care, children are given the chance to explore their environment and learn the skills that are necessary to support all areas of development. Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace while focusing on their abilities. We believe that effective childcare should be family based, anti-bias and have an inclusive approach. All of these needs are met when there is a positive interaction between parents, caregivers and the community.

Mission

Our mission is to offer quality, community based childcare in approved homes where children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs are being met. Some of our home care providers will be offering care for children ages 3 months to age 12. All of our providers offer a home environment so children can feel safe, comfortable and feel that they are part of the family. Agency staff and care providers are committed to providing the best experience for the children in our care.

Meet the Staff

KELSEY NICKERSON

I grew up in HRM and have strong Newfoundland roots. I hold a level 2 Early Childhood Educator certification and a diploma in Therapeutic Recreation. I have spent the past 10 years working with Nova Scotia Health Authority, IWK Health Center and within regulated childcare centres.

On my free time I like to spend time with my husband, dog, family and friends. I enjoy being outside, going on hikes, gardening, reading and crafting.

I absolutely love spending time with children; helping them explore their interests, supporting their development and watching them learn and grow. I am passionate not only about my work with children but the work I do with families and colleagues- and value the importance of support, community, trust and communication.
